I first walked down Zombie Road in 2006. I’d heard the stories for years and finally gave in. I thought it would just be a spooky night walk with friends. Instead, it felt like stepping straight into The Blair Witch.
I went back again and again. I led groups down there, even filmed with a documentary crew. And still, the place has never let go of me. Zombie Road doesn’t just give you mystery, it throws it back at you a hundredfold.
At night it’s dangerous. Not just because it’s patrolled now with heavy fines, but because you can get hurt. The bluffs, the river, the broken trail, one wrong step and the road will take you.
But in the daylight, it’s different. Still powerful, still unsettling, but safer. The road speaks just as strongly under the sun. For me, autumn is when it feels the most haunted, and spring is when it feels alive again.
This is my first true paranormal book in ten years, born from a place that captured my curiosity and gave me experiences almost twenty years ago.
What do you want for Christmas? I may have a spooky gift for you this year.
