It’s Alive

You know, diving into MK-Ultra for my book Gorilla was like falling into a pit that keeps widening—what starts as a grim curiosity quickly unravels into a tapestry of cruelty you can’t unsee. People tripping on LSD without warning, their minds gnawed by endless hallucinations while detached scientists chart every twitch of their brainwaves. Others locked in sensory-deprivation tanks so merciless they begged for electric shocks just to break the silence.

And that’s only the warm-up. They turned soldiers into living puppets—trigger-ready at a whispered code—and ran microdosing regimens that crushed identities, erasing memories in swaths so deep whole personalities vanished. There were secret child studies, too, hidden behind layers of redaction, where terrified screams were the soundtrack to experiments no conscience could justify.

It wasn’t one program but a sprawling network of hidden labs—CIA cells, rogue academics, private outfits—each racing to outdo the last in sheer inhumanity. Prisons, psychiatric wards, ivy-clad universities—you name it, they turned it into a testing ground for mind-control horrors.

And here’s the real nightmare: is any of it really behind us? Shadowy financiers are now pouring cash into the same dark corridors. What if they’re not content with controlling people, but want to remake them into something inhuman—modern monsters, born of chemical and psychological torture?

Is MK-Ultra truly buried in the past, or is it just evolving? Who’s funding those murky labs today, and what twisted breakthroughs lie waiting beneath the surface? And if the stakes have grown even higher, how do we stop a force that already shattered so many lives—and may be gearing up to shatter countless more?
