The Fight is Never Over

I am seeing defeated posts about the upcoming inauguration of the felon, but this isn’t defeat – it’s another battle. Pete is correct; we don’t have the right to give up. The past is looking to us to step up once again and fight.

Since the felon (FOTUS) didn’t have the support of the majority of voting citizens, he lacks a strong mandate. Although he’ll cause damage, remember that Congress is closely divided, and he’ll be a lame-duck President on day one. The numbers aren’t there for him in the votes. He needs certain things to reach his desk to sign, and that takes voting numbers he doesn’t have. Also, anything can and will be challenged in the courts. Not everything will go to SCOTUS. Executive orders are really not worth the paper they are signed on, which is something we learned the first time around. There will be losses, but all hope is far from lost.

Don’t give up. If people in history gave up, we’d still have segregated drinking fountains. Hitler would have won the war. Progress is a fight. Two steps forward and one step back is how it works. Look at this as an obstacle and not an end.

We should focus on the midterm elections coming up in two years and the presidential election in four years. But what if there isn’t an election in four years? We’ll have to take a stand with our greater numbers, and the world will support us. We outnumber them.

The felon cannot and will not live forever. Look to history to see places like Germany, Spain, and Italy. They are good references on what happens afterwards. The aftermath will come and should be our focus and what we work for while limiting the damage.
