Remembering Heroes: A Day for HIV/AIDS Awareness

Today we remember.

How do I even begin to put my thoughts together on this in order to write something positive but sincere? It’s hard not to discuss this without grief and feeling an overwhelming sense of loss. We were way too young to lose so many and there was no one but ourselves to rely upon.

It’s a day filled with bittersweet memories. We remember the friends we lost, the ones who fought bravely, and the ones who continue to inspire us. It’s a day to honor their lives and the impact they had on our community. We cannot forget them. Their deaths were not in vain. Even though so many wanted to erase their memories we can never allow that to happen.

While the fight against HIV/AIDS continues, we’ve made significant strides. But the battle is far from over. Let’s continue to support those living with HIV, fund research, and break down the stigma surrounding the virus.
Remember, knowledge is power.

Get tested, know your status, and protect yourself and others. Together, we can create a future where HIV/AIDS is no longer a threat.
