“Now is the Time for Monsters.”
Antonio Gramsci’s haunting quote has always resonated with me. It states, “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born. Now is the time of monsters.” What does it mean? Simply put, during times of chaos and upheaval, the established order crumbles, and a new world tries to emerge. But in this transition, “monsters” arise – unpredictable forces, distorted power structures, and unsettling ideas.
In my new Modern Monsters Series, I take this concept further, exploring the intersection of human and supernatural evil. What if ancient legends and horrors collided with the modern age? Imagine supernatural forces manipulating human civilization, changing the world into a horrific, unforgiving place.
But what is evil, exactly? We see it in domestic violence, hate crimes, human trafficking, and oppression. Yet, supernatural evil lurks in the shadows – demons, unclean spirits, evil deities, and malevolent entities. What if one of these forces set its sights on humanity? History shows us that supernatural influences can shape civilizations. Angels, Hindu gods, and Islamic prophets have all played roles in shaping human destiny. Witch hunts, vampire folklore, and spiritualism have left lasting impacts.
My Modern Monsters Series taps into this fertile ground. The first book, Glow, introduces an ancient being that attacks through nightmares, blurring the lines between reality and horror. This is not mere fiction. Each book starts with factual research. It outlines the real-life events that inspired the narrative. We live in precarious times, balancing on a tightrope. It doesn’t take much to tip the balance.
“Now is the time for monsters” is a chilling truth. Be afraid. Join me on this journey into the heart of darkness.
Read Glow, available now at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and BAM. The next two books, Gorilla (Spring 2025) and Grace (Fall 2025), will continue the Modern Monsters saga.
Now is the time for monsters and nightmares are only the beginning.
